IF YOU COULD PICK A SUPERPOWER,

WHAT WOULD IT BE, AND WHY? 

 

As a child, I wanted telepathy so I could read minds. Then I became a teenager and wished I could teleport so I could travel for free.

 

The years went by, and I realized that some moments are worth more than the ability to read minds or teleport. Time is precious. Once a moment passes, it never comes back. So ask me that question again, and I'd pick the ability to freeze time.

 

I want to capture stories. We are all stories, just waiting to be discovered, waiting to be appreciated. Our lives are living novels. People are so beautiful, so complicated. That's why people are my favorite subject to photograph. A picture doesn't just capture the face; it captures the soul. When the shutter snaps, a part of them will always stay that way, forever locked into the depths of time.

 

I went into photography because I wanted to remember moments before they slipped away. I wanted to share these moments with my friends. And I also wanted to remind the world of the beauty that surrounds us, little things in life that we often don't think about-- the curve of a branch, the first rays of afternoon sunlight on a tainted window pane, the wide-toothed smile of a child, the rolling clouds across a dark sky before the arrival of a downpour. We live in a colorful world that is always, always in motion. It's these little details that make life beautiful.

 

We just need to remember.
